Milestone 2.6
2.6: Test Plan and Prototype Development
Phase 1: Research and Requirements Testing
Goals:
-Verify feasibility of integrating solar panels, batteries, and electronics within the case dimensions
-Identify material properties and constraints for 3D-printed prototypes and titanium versions
Tests:
Material Compatibility
-Test different materials for 3D printing to ensure strength, flexibility, and accuracy
-Evaluate titanium’s feasibility for mass production, considering durability and heat management
Component Sourcing:
-Test sourced solar panels and batteries to ensure they meet the required specifications (voltage, capacity)
-Verify compatibility of connectors, circuits, and electronic components
Phase 2: Design Validation
Goals:
-Validate the design through simulations and initial physical prototypes
Tests:
3D-Printed Model Testing:
-Test fitting: Ensure the case fits snugly with iPhone models.
-Alignment of openings: Verify precise cutouts for ports, buttons, and camera.
CAD and Simulation:
-Simulate heat distribution from solar charging to prevent overheating
-Analyze the structural stability of both 3D-printed and titanium designs
Phase 3: Assembly Testing
Goals:
-Assemble components to create a functional prototype
-Verify connections and functionality of the solar charging system
Tests: Component Integration
-Test assembly of solar panel, battery, and wiring within the case
-Check for ease of assembly and durability of connections.
Basic Functionality Testing:
-Solar panel charging: Measure charging efficiency under various light conditions.
-Battery performance: Test charge storage and output to the phone.
Phase 4: Prototype Functional Testing
Goals:
-Assess the case's performance under real-world conditions
Tests: Charging
Efficiency:
-Test solar charging speed and capacity under direct sunlight and indoor lighting
Thermal Testing:
-Monitor case temperature during prolonged charging to ensure safe operation
Usability Testing:
-Evaluate user comfort and accessibility to iPhone features while using the case
